Our Story
At Goz Golf, we are passionate about disc golf and providing the best product for carrying discs on a cart in the market. Our journey began in 2022 when our founder, Matt, started playing disc golf with his partner and they both fell in love with the sport. Frustrated with the lack of quality bags suited to his needs, he decided to start Goz Golf to fill the gap.
A couple of years back, my partner and I stumbled upon disc golf. We’re in our late 40s, we were both searching for a fun way to stay active, bond, and exercise our competitive urges. The moment we felt the thrill of a long, slow turnover or a low flexing drive weaving through trees, we were hooked. Backhands that is, don't ask about our forehands!
Our adventures have taken us across Australia, hunting for the most exciting courses. Starting from our base in Melbourne, we’ve ventured all over Tasmania, central Victoria, the ACT and Mt Gambier. Our next trip? Adelaide. By the end of the year, we’re aiming for W.A. and QLD too.
Naturally, we couldn't resist the allure of discs. Oh, so many discs! Our collection has blossomed to well over 80. Each of us has our favorites. Some discs make the cut for every round, while others stay reserved for special occasions. When playing a new course, seeing a shot that calls for a favorite disc sparks a rush of excitement. Yet it's the shots that we're not expecting that will often remind us of the disc that didn't make the cut. When carrying bags and constantly adding to our disc collection we found the inevitable room issue and the dreaded, which one has to go, decision. That's when I decided to design golf cart setups.
I started with wood, crafting vertical disc shelves and figuring out how to attach existing bags to carts. It worked to carry more discs comfortably, but I still had a regular issue arise. I faced the classic jam of overstuffing and a rather awkward, cyberpunk-looking contraption. Sure, it functioned and had a certain flair, but it lacked the ease I was striving for. It lacked the polish ball golfers take for granted. And then, the Goz Golf Unique was envisioned.
